Abstract: This work aims to produce coatings based on organic-inorganic hybrid gels (OIH), prepared by sol-gel method, for corrosion protection of galvanized steel in cementitious materials. Due to the mechanism of corrosion, the advantages of incorporating a Cr(III) salt into the sol–gel system as a corrosion inhibitor was study. The selection of Cr(III) salt was based on the fact that Cr-based inhibitors are quite efficient and to establish a baseline for compare their performance with alternative eco-friendly green inhibitors. Based on a well-established methodology, three different structural types of OIH matrices were prepared by a reaction between isocyanate derived siloxane (ICPTES) with three different diamino functionalized polyether chains with different molecular weight, with and without incorporated Cr(III) salt.
