Abstract: | Over the last decade, the requests for site hydrogeological studies has been increased in the city of Lisbon, because of the growing occupation of underground space (with basements and tunnels). An underground impermeable structure, cutting the direction of the flow, may generate rising water levels upstream and low levels downstream, which can increase the risk of flooding around the structure. For the hydrogeological impact assessment produced by an underground construction, it is often used numerical models for simulating groundwater conditions and, therefore, it is essential to have a set of information on the characteristics of the ground and of the aquifers intercepted by the construction works. The purpose of this work is to present a methodological approach for the planning of the engineering geological and hydrogeological site investigation and monitoring works required to perform this type of studies. |
