Abstract: Preliminary laboratory tests for studying the influence of the pre-hydration of GCLs on the leakage rates through composite liners due to holes in geomembrane were carried out. À stitch and a needle punched product were used. The influence of the normal stress and the type of cover geotextile of the GCL were also studied. The first results obtained show that the interface transmissivity depends on the initial water content of the specimens and on the normal stress applied. The type of cover geotextile (woven or non-woven) seamed to have a higher influence on leakage rate on the short term than on the long-term. Nevertheless, this topic is still under study.
