dc.description.abstract | This report aimed the selection of a set of commercial powdered activated carbons (PACs) adequate to control a set of target emerging contaminants (ECs) through PAC conventional addition and PAC/microfiltration (PAC/MF) hybrid process, applications to be further tested in actions B3 and B4 of LIFE Hymemb Project. A short-list of ECs and PACs were selected based on multiple criteria. Six pharmaceuticals and four variants of microcystins were included in the short-list and six PACs were tested in adsorption studies. The results of PAC characterization and adsorption kinetics allowed selecting two PACs, each to be used in long-term demonstration of PAC/MF and PAC conventional application. | pt_BR |
