Abstract: | The ballast layer is a railway superstructure component with functions related to the track mechanical behavior, the assessment of which is of singular importance for track behavior evaluation through stress-strain analysis. The paper presents a new large-scale triaxial equipment to test ballast material in terms of stress-strain characteristics. A case study of a ballast material at different conditions of contamination is also discussed. |
